Staff in action - Aviemore Staff - Kingussie Crag
My name is Steve Hammond. I work part time for EB in Aviemore as well as a climbing instructor in the area. I have been climbing for 12 years with various climbing awards to my name. I also coach the north Scotland Climbing Team and last week I took the EB crew to Kingussie Crag for some staff training and a chance to bond. A great evening was had by everyone, although the wind was strong at least it kept the midges away!! For some it was their first time climbing and for those who had a bit of experience it was a chance to get a refreshment in this fab sport.
My name is Isla Sherrington. I am approaching my second month of full time work with EB, but have some previous experience working in an outdoor shop. I’ve been climbing a few times up north and in Sardinia but would not call myself a great expert in the sport. So, when Steve offered to take us climbing I jumped at the chance. It was a great laugh and martin and I spent a good, confusing while trying to perfect the various knots Steve taught us. We called it a night after our growling stomachs fueled our thoughts of curry but I really can’t wait to get back out. I now feel much more confident giving advice to customers now I have had a proper chance to use some of the equipment.
Martin Bell, only climbed on an indoor wall before & once at Castleford on the ice wall!
